Telepathic Music N°7 - The Principle of Equivalence Carried to a Series of 5, 1977
In And So On, End So Soon, Robert Filliou demonstrates the Principle of Equivalence as applied to video. He proposes that Bien Fait, Mal Fait, Pas Fait (Well done, Badly done, Not done) are three equivalent proposals. The three elements can be considered as one (Bien Fait), to which Mal Fait is added then Pas Fait. This sort of rapid growth multiplication, one of the driving forces behind Permanent Creation, might be responsible for the Permanent Creation of the universe.
Telepathic Music Nø 7 applies this principle of creation:
- Bien Fait (short, lasting only 3 seconds): Robert Filliou, standing in front of the camera, with just a green plant behind him as décor says "welcome" as he leans to the left, then "farewell" waving his hand in greeting towards the right.
- Mal Fait (3 seconds): Robert Filliou repeats "welcome", then "farewell", without making any gestures.
- Pas Fait (3 seconds): Robert Filliou remains still and silent.
The three times three seconds becomes the Bien Fait of the second series, to which will be added Mal Fait and Pas Fait (now each 9 seconds long), and so on up to the fiftieth series of three times 2' 43".
