Wandering Marxwards is part performance part story, based on the book Capital: Critique of Political Economy by Karl Marx, published in 1867.

In this video, Michael Blum poses the question of whether it makes any sense to reread Marx's book over 150 years after its publication. He comments live on the operation of contemporary societies, while staging himself in various situations, in which we see him conspicuously taking advantage of the comfort of the capitalist world (hotel, fitness gym, piscine, jacuzzi, etc.) while reading Capital.

This succession of offbeat little scenes, showing the artist enjoying the “benefits” of the capitalist world, poses the question of the heritage of Marx's thought in contemporary societies.

Does reading Capital in 1999 in our societies of triumphant capitalism still mean anything?

Since we can concretely observe the results of the capitalist ideology today, how can the book be interpreted? Michael Blum does not seek to answer this question, he opens up a dialogue between 19th century Marxist thought and 21st century lifestyles in a humorous way.
